Ken Granderson & Dale Dowdie

In 1997, BlackFacts.com, the first Black History search engine was created by MIT Alumnus Ken Granderson and fellow Black Technologist Dale Dowdie to make the then-new Internet more relevant to Black Americans with computer access. Without outside investors, they have kept BlackFacts up to the present day and have added global Black News, 1000 original Black History videos, including for every day of the year, and have an Ed-Tech product Diversity Schoolhouse in schools in 14 states in the USA.

Lonnie Johnson

Lonnie Johnson is a highly accomplished engineer and entrepreneur whose outstanding contributions to the field of energy technology have earned him widespread recognition. Johnson's pioneering work on an eco-friendly heat pump led to the creation of one of the most popular toys of all time - the Super Soaker®. This iconic water gun has been a huge commercial success, having sold more than $1 billion worth of units, and has brought immense joy to children and adults alike around the world.

Shawna Stepp-Jones

Shawna Stepp-Jones Inventor, Hardware Engineer, and Founder of beauty-tech startup, Divaneering Lab. Positioned to revolutionize the wig and hair extension market, Shawna is currently leading the R&D of Spundle the first no-heat dryer for wigs and bundles. In the community, Shawna is building confidence and curiosity in girls to pursue STEM and innovation by curating culturally relevant creative design workshops in urban cities across the country.
